Carlisle United have invited former boss Paul Simpson to share the secrets of his historic World Cup success.

The Cumbrian, who led the Blues from 2003-6, masterminded England Under-20s to victory in the recent tournament in South Korea.

Now he is set to return to Brunton Park to speak about the memorable campaign.

Carlisle's sales and marketing director Phil King revealed that Simpson has been invited to address a business club meeting at Brunton Park next season.

King said: "We have had a chat with Paul, fresh from the success of the World Cup win, and he is going to talk about that journey and the success he had.

"It was massive for the country to have that World Cup success and it will be exciting to hear what Paul has to say."

King, speaking at the club's "fixtures breakfast", also confirmed that United's new kit for 2017/18 would be launched "in the next few weeks".

The strip, made by Umbro and with Edinburgh Woollen Mill as its main sponsor, will also feature World Group's logo for a second successive season.

The Cumbrian property improvement firm have extended their back-of-shirt sponsorship.

They are also involved in plans to refurbish hospitality, bar and catering areas in Brunton Park.

World Group director Matthew Spooner said: “We have a proud history of being associated with Carlisle United and it’s a pleasure for us to be continuing our shirt sponsorship for another season.

"We’re looking to work with the club, as part of this partnership, to help them develop some of the ‘less pretty’ areas of the ground and improve fan facilities and match day experience, where possible.”
