Carlisle United director Phil King says the club are open to more matchday ideas at Brunton Park after the return of a "fan zone" marquee last weekend.

The facility was brought back to the stadium for the Yeovil game having been used at last season's FA Cup tie against Everton.

The initiative arose from discussions in the Carlisle United Supporters' Group forum, with the London Branch supporters' club one of the groups backing it.

And the Blues say they will welcome further ideas from all corners of their fanbase.

"The fan zone was never going to be as busy as when we had over 17,000 in the stadium for Everton, but having said that it was relatively busy," said sales and marketing director King.

"We take on board feedback from fans and, after the Everton game, that was one of the things they said they'd like to see.

"We also had a free drink offer for season-ticket holders and it's something we will look to do again if there is demand.

"With something like that, there is a cost involved and so we can't do it every game, but going forward we are always looking at new ideas for pre-match and match-day initiatives and entertainment."

United's range of supporter groups meet every six weeks and King says it is a useful forum.

He added: "It is something we've been committed to over the last year-and-a-half and it helps issues get raised, fundraising initiatives to be discussed and feedback to be given to the club from fans.

"We want to keep it as open a forum as possible."

King also highlighted other events, such as the recent CUOSC quiz night and a planned appearance by Keith Curle at a London Branch event in February.

Half-season tickets are on sale at Brunton Park, which start with the January 2 game against Grimsby.

That follows away games at Crewe and Notts County, with more than 1,200 Blues fans set to travel to the Alexandra Stadium on Monday. Tickets are on sale until 2pm today.

King, meanwhile, said that communication issues highlighted by the London Branch in their latest monthly fanzine have been resolved.

The capital-based fans' group revealed in Hit the Bar! that they temporarily suspended sponsorship and donations to United in September after experiencing "communication problems" at Brunton Park.

They said the issues, understood to concern different aspects of their activities, were addressed after discussions at the CUSG table and with United directors.

King said: "We spoke to the London Branch and it was dealt with within a couple of days. It was a small issue but it was quickly resolved."
