Skipper Danny Grainger says he has every faith that Keith Curle will bring in the right players for Carlisle United this summer.

The Blues have yet to confirm any close-season signings with pre-season training less than two weeks away.

It is understood United are very close to clinching deals with several players, although none has yet been finalised.

Many fans have been frustrated at the lack of transfer activity at the club so far.

But captain Grainger said Curle should be trusted to get things right.

“I can understand what the fans are saying,” Grainger said. “But I’m not worried at all.

“I know the manager will be looking to make sure he brings in the right targets, and not just bringing in boys early for the sake of it.

“He’ll be looking to bring in people who will improve us. I’ve got more than enough faith that he’ll bring in the right players.”

United have continued to stress there is no “panic” over the lack of additions so far.

It is understood that some of their top targets are still on holiday, meaning certain deals cannot yet be concluded.

That situation is likely to change as pre-season looms closer.

A Blues spokesman said: “Everything remains positive with the targets the manager has been talking to.

“There is no panic from our point of view.”

United need to make a host of new additions after the departure of several players at the end of last season.

Manager Curle released three players, saw three loanees depart and of six players initially offered new deals, just two will be with United next season.

Four youth players have stepped up onto development contracts, with Jack Egan the last of the four to sign his first professional terms.

United will face stiff competition if they want to reignite their interest in former loan man Jamie Proctor, meanwhile.

The Bolton striker is the subject of interest from League One duo Rotherham and Doncaster.

It is understood a permanent departure would suit the Trotters rather than another loan deal.
