Keith Curle remains on the trail of his first summer signings as the Carlisle United boss bids to make an early breakthrough.

The Blues manager has met more targets this week after admitting he is playing catch-up in the market.

Curle made a host of early additions last summer as he rebuild the United squad.

He would like to carry out similar work this time, but talks were delayed by the club's involvement in the League Two play-offs.

But, having been given the green light by the board to pursue certain players, Curle will now hope to get his first deals over the line in the coming days.

A former United player will be back in League Two next season, meanwhile.

Winger David Amoo, who was with Carlisle from 2013-15, has joined Cambridge after being released by Patrick Thistle.

After signing the ex-Liverpool man on a one-year deal, manager Shaun Derry told the club website: "We wanted to bring a different type of player into the squad and David certainly possesses those different qualities.

"I'm sure our fans will enjoy watching him."
