Keith Curle has issued a fresh appeal for a bumper crowd at Brunton Park this weekend as Carlisle United eye a fifth straight win.

The rampant Cumbrians are in their best form for years - and eyeing further progress in their promotion push against Crawley.

United's last home game saw their biggest home league crowd since January, when 7,333 watched the 3-2 win against Hartlepool.

Curle says that - and the support Carlisle are receiving on their travels - is greatly appreciated by his players.

And he wants to reward another vocal crowd by extending the current record-breaking 14-game unbeaten run.

"It's another massive, massive game and we feel there is more to come," Curle said.

"At the last game at Brunton Park people came and enjoyed it - and we want to get them back into the ground.

"We want them to feel part of everything we are trying to build, because those people are massive to us.

"It's important we don't take that support for granted.

"The atmosphere at the Hartlepool game made Brunton Park a fantastic place to work in."

While another victory this Saturday would be United's fifth in a row, it would also put Curle in pole position to end Carlisle's eight-and-a-half year wait for a manager of the month prize.

Only the Blues have the chance to record five League Two wins in October as they head into this weekend's fixtures.

Curle said the encouraging progress being made by his side is a result of the right attitude towards hard work - which he demands of all his players.

Curle added: "We've got a very good work ethic among the group - people are enjoying working hard and that doesn’t just come overnight.

"Even before pre-season, when we were trying to bring players into the club, our message was, we want you to come, we like your skill sets, we know about your character and want you to be involved, but get ready, because it's going to be the hardest season physically, and mentally, that you're going to endure.

"We didn’t disappoint them. Pre-season was probably one of the hardest a lot of them have ever had.

"And you can see the results of it now, because we're able to go for 95-96 minutes."
