Carlisle United assistant manager Tommy Wright is due in court today to answer two charges of accepting a bribe.
John Sheridan's right-hand man is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court.
The charges relate to 52-year-old Wright's time as assistant manager at Barnsley in 2016.
Two other men will also appear having been charged with paying and facilitating a bribe.
They are football agent Dax Price, from Sittingbourne, and Giuseppe Pagliara, from Manchester.
City of London Police said the charges had been brought after a national newspaper investigation into alleged bribery in football between May and September 2016.
United declined to comment when it emerged Wright had been charged.
The Scot was on the touchline as normal for Carlisle's victory at Bury in League Two on Saturday.
