Two young fans gave up their pocket money to help Carlisle United manager Keith Curle's transfer kitty.

Jak Little and Claire Nicholls, both eight, donated to the recent supporters' crowdfunding campaign in support of the Blues boss.

And they took part in an official cheque presentation before Saturday's game against Crewe where their efforts were recognised by Curle.

Also on the pitch for the presentation were Claire's father Andrew and Jak's dad David Graham.

They were joined by Mike Rome, one of the fans who originally suggested the crowdfunding idea on thecumbrians.net forum.

CUOSC's Mike Denovellis, who set up the JustGiving page, was also there along with the London Branch's Simon Clarkson.

Supporters raised more than £11,000 after Curle appealed in January for bigger crowds to boost his budget.

Some of that cash helped fund the signing of forward Junior Joachim, who has made two substitute appearances so far.

CUOSC, meanwhile, have praised fans for their "outstanding" contribution to a pre-match collection for the Carlisle Foodbank.

Supporters were invited to bring food and toiletries for local people in crisis to the CUOSC surgery in the Study Centre at Brunton Park.

Denovellis said: "Fans were outstanding again. The feedback was very positive, and we had an unbelievable amount of items donated.

"A huge thanks to all those who popped in to see us, and drop something off."
