Carlisle United's Ladies have secured their own shirt sponsor for the first time in their history.

They have clinched a deal with Carlisle-based Bendles LLP Solicitors.

It will see the legal firm's logo displayed on the Ladies' new kit as they compete in North West Women's Regional League Division One North.

The deal comes after United allowed the Ladies' team to seek their own sponsor - a move which will help strengthen their side of the club further.

Blues chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “We are delighted to see the Ladies playing in official kit and the new sponsorship will go directly and exclusively into developing ladies football at Carlisle United.

"Bendles LLP Solicitors are a longstanding supporter of the club and to see them now backing the Ladies is most welcome.

"We are all United together in striving to see ladies' football at Carlisle United go from strength to strength.

"I would like to also thank DSD, our official club shirt sponsor, for supporting the Ladies in gaining their own shirt sponsor and making this possible. It’s a great example of everyone working together.”

Bendles managing partner John Stevenson - the city's MP - said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Ladies football team. We wish the Ladies team the very best for the remainder of the season.”

It is the latest boost to the Lady Cumbrians, who have also been supported by United manager Keith Curle and assistant Colin West this season.

They have sponsored new travel and training wear for Tracy Gannon's team, who are currently sixth in the league, which is on the sixth tier of the women's football pyramid.

The Ladies' game against Academy Juniors on Sunday was postponed as the visiting side were unable to raise a team.

They return to action against Kendal in two weeks' time.
