Premier League striker Grant Holt has signed up to play in Peter Murphy’s testimonial match at Brunton Park.
And Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott is also set to roll back the years by getting his boots on for this Sunday’s big game.
Carlisle-born Holt, who scored his first top-flight goal of the season for Norwich in their 5-2 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, is lending his support to Murphy.
The 31-year-old, from Harraby, will play with the team of former United ‘all-stars’ against the current Blues team.
Holt is a lifelong Carlisle fan who has never had the opportunity to wear the blue shirt after being snubbed by ex-boss Roddy Collins in 2002.
The former Workington Reds striker is the latest of a host of stars to confirm their attendance for this Sunday’s testimonial match.
And Blues manager Abbott is also set to make a playing appearance.
The 48-year-old, who retired from playing in 1996, is set for a cameo outing.
The match will also feature more of the Premier League’s former Carlisle players in Keiren Westwood, Danny Graham and Ian Harte.
Derby captain Richard Keogh is also playing, along with a host of ex-Blues favourites such as Kevin Gray, Chris Lumsdon, Chris Billy, Andy Preece, Tom Cowan, Paul Murray, Richie Foran, Ian Dalziel, Derek Walsh, Evan Horwood and David Raven.
Heroes of the 1990s promotion and Wembley teams Dean Walling, David Reeves and Darren Edmondson are also due to appear, along with strikers Andy Watson and George Oghani.
Paul Simpson will manage the all-star team in the game which will be refereed by his eldest son Joe – a qualified official – while more top names are set to be revealed this week.
Tickets are on sale for the game at Brunton Park, priced £10 for adults, £5 for Under-18s and over 65s, and £2 for juniors/over-7s.
A £10 prize draw will be held this Thursday offering two fans the chance to play in the game. The draw also includes signed shirts and the chance to have your photo taken with the teams. Envelopes available at the club.
