Danny Cadamarteri signs two-year Carlisle Utd deal

Carlisle United today completed the signing of former Huddersfield and Everton frontman Danny Cadamarteri on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old sealed his move to Brunton Park after passing a medical at the club this afternoon, and becomes Greg Abbott's second summer recruit.

Cadamarteri, a free agent after his release from the promoted Terriers, rejected offers from SPL clubs and some of United's League One rivals in order to join the Blues.

News & Star Sport revealed earlier today that the Blues had stepped up their chase of the ex-England Under-21 international and Cadamarteri drove to Carlisle this morning to finalise the move.

The experienced Yorkshireman, who can operate as a central striker or a wide player, said he is looking forward to helping the Blues push for promotion in 2012/13.

"I would love to play an active part in a promotion and that is the aim here," he said.

"The way Carlisle play football is the way I like to play and this always felt like the best move for me. I can't wait to get started."

Cadamarteri joins former Notts County defender Mike Edwards at Carlisle with Abbott likely to be searching for more recruits before the new season starts.

Have your say

Hi everyone, Terriers fan here. Just wanted to say that Cads is a top player providing he stays fit! He might not be the most prolific but he is one of the hardest working players I have ever seen and through enthusiasm and work rate alone he will get you goals next year....it might not be him scoring them but he will cause defense's to make mistakes and he will chase lost causes all day long! Good luck for next season and good luck to Cads!

Cal, Cadamateri is more a link between the strikers and the midfield these days. He hasn't been a striker for a long time.
