Carlisle United today made experienced Notts County defender Mike Edwards their first summer signing.

A very good signing. You only need to read the kind things said by the NCFC fans on here. Dont think any CUFC fans will be writing such things on a simular site when Lubo signs for another club!

loosing Tom is a blow, he is a very good player. However last season one of our problems was being to light weight in midfield. Games against teams such as Brentford we were totally dominated in midfield by bigger stronger players. We need to sign a replacement who can dominate more and be more physical Tom was a great tackler and very strong for his size but he was still very small and could often become lost in games.
I dont want Carlisle to become a team of big cart horses like Preston but every great team needs a big strong enforcer in Midfield , just look at Man city! Tommy Miller released by Huddersfield would be perfect!

We also need a right winger to compete with MGovern and another released Huddersfield player Gary Roberts would be perfect!

Then its the mythical goal scorer. CUFC fans must understand that every team in the country wants to sign a sticker this summer! If you have a 25 goal a season player then another bigger club wants to sign him and you need a replacement or clubs like us who dont have one and REALLY REALLY need one! So the chances of us signing a player that scored 25 goals last season is nill as another bigger clun will always be after the same player! We rely on Greg finding a gem from some where who might not have scored many last season or ever but who can if in the right team.

So lets have some faith in Greg, his record for player signings is actually amazingly good. (obvious errors such as Offiong are pretty rear)

If he can sign the 3or 4 we need then it could be a very good season ahead!

Good signing who poses a threat at set pieces and is a real (though ageing) strong centre half.
Tom T will be hard to replace as he had youth on his side and energy to spare.
Jordan Cook MUST be a priority to sit in behind Lee Miller and Rory Loy or wander wide. Zoko and Michalik were forgone conclusions but Greg has addressed Michaliks departure but must now turn his attention to a REAL winger/flair player.

Notts County's loss is Carlisle's gain!! Fantastic pro and leader, was ever present with us throughout the dark days of 5-6 years ago and will be missed. Hardly ever losses a header and took us 8yrs to find out he has a throw like Rory Delap!!! Lol. Proved himself time and time again to be 1st name on the teamsheet for the 14+ managers he played under for us! Will look forward to welcoming him back to Lane, as it means we will defo have to keep the ball on the floor now!! Thanks for everything and good luck steady "the Phoenix" Eddy!

The squad is down 5 profesionals, although O'halloran and Curran were guaranteed to go months ago.
Mike Edwards seems to have a lot of experience and skill to offer. The test now is to blend in and work with the rest of the squad.
Lubo and Zoko were good when they were good, but you never knew what performance they were going to give from one game to the next.
Sad to see Tom Taiwo go because he gave 100 per cent every game. He was a tackling terrier.
They've all played their part and good luck to them all in their future targets.
Now all the rumors of Greg going or staying has been resolved and the players contracts being resolved, it's time to move forward.
This could be an exciting season, with so many new faces about to arrive.
Greg is a clever manager and he'll not be rushed. He will bring in some new talent for the fans to talk about.
Looking forward to his next signing and can't wait for the new season to kick off.

So is this way we are going , signing old players no disrespect to Mike Edwards if we can not bring in some younger players I think we will have problems , I can understand Taiwo leaving as he was only a part player and not really what we need and I think Greg has major problems for this next season , fair enough we will have Rory Loy back up front with Lee Miller and I hope that Jordan Cook is the next one to sign if not I can not see us anywhere as strong as last season.

Looks a decent signing in an essential to cover area. Seems he can play holding in central midfield if required.
He may be because Tommy T's loss is massive. I'm full of admiration for his energy and skills and feel too often he has been substituted or left out.
Not bothered about Zoko or Lubo. I'm grateful for what they've done but both players need to be much more consistent to even think they can survive in a higher league.
But the big issue is that the club must find ways to sign its free agents. We lost transfer money and good players. At this time next year we will be wondering how Lee Miller is being treated by the club. We must re-sign him early and look at one or two others too.
Whatever the economics it is a dangerously false economy to lose key players and to have to integrate new faces who might not blend with the team.

Great proffessional and solid defender, if he had pace he would be playing in the championship, we at NCFC are gutted to see him leave after 8 great years playing for us, Good Luck Steady Eddy
