Carlisle Utd get international clearance for Alessio Bugno

New signing Alessio Bugno is on stand-by for a possible debut in tomorrow’s Capital One Cup tie at home to Accrington Stanley after Carlisle United received international clearance for the Italian left-back.
The club was still waiting for Football League clearance but officials were confident there would be no hitches and Bugno would be able to be included in the squad for the opening game.
Scottish playmaker JP McGovern and right-back Frank Simek are in contention for a place in the squad after coming through 90 minutes of Tuesday night’s 2-1 friendly defeat at Morecambe without any problems.
It was McGovern’s first appearance of pre-season following a double hernia operation, while Simek missed back-to-back friendlies against St Mirren and Middlesbrough with a twisted ankle he suffered on Durham City’s artificial pitch.
Forward Danny Cadamarteri could miss the start of the season with a hamstring injury.
The summer signing from Huddersfield suffered the injury against Workington Reds and has been restricted to gym work while his new team-mates stepped up their preparation.
However, the club was hopeful he would be back in full training today.
Carlisle boss Greg Abbott has decided not to offer former Newcastle United forward Ryan Donaldson a deal following a trial at Brunton Park.
Donaldson, who had loan spells with Tranmere and Hartlepool, has featured in three of United’s pre-season friendlies.
Abbott said: “Ryan has shown us that he’s a good player and it was another tough decision for us to make.
“However, we’re in a situation where we want players who will be pushing for first-team football right away and we couldn’t guarantee that in this instance.”
