James Berrett has finally agreed a new two-year contract with Carlisle United.
The influential midfielder has finalised the new terms which will keep him at Brunton Park until 2014.
Berrett, 23, is the first of United's remaining three out-of-contract players to agree new deals with the Blues.
Peter Murphy and Frank Simek are also poised to extend their stays with the Cumbrians before Greg Abbott's squad return for pre-season training on Thursday.
Berrett's new deal is a crucial piece of business by United given the ex-Huddersfield man's impact in his two seasons at the club to date.
He has made 103 appearances and scored 20 goals, hitting double figures for goals in both campaigns.
And the departure of Tom Taiwo made it even more important that Republic of Ireland U21 international Berrett was tied to a new contract.
Manager Abbott said: "James has already shown us what he can do with his performances and he's at an age where we think he's going to get better and better.
"We're delighted that we've got this one sorted and we're looking forward to working with him again once we all get back together on Thursday."
