Internet star Jonathan Pie to perform at Carlisle's Sands Centre
Internet sensation Jonathan Pie, the frustrated news reporter whose videos have been seen across the world, is to visit Carlisle.
The character described as “the most important satirical creation since Alan Partridge’ will perform at The Sands Centre on March 23 next year.
It is part of a national tour, showcasing the live show: Jonathan Pie: Back To The Studio.
With nearly one million Facebook followers, his weekly videos regularly achieve viral amounts of views.
His response to the election of Donald Trump was viewed more than 120 million times world wide.
His debut live show last year began at a 70-seater theatre.
But it was such a hit that it went on to a sell-out run at Edinburgh, followed by a huge national tour including two sell-out shows at the Shepherds Bush Empire in the capital and ending with another sold-out show at the London Palladium.
The show was described as “a true tour de force” by the Evening Standard and “blisteringly brilliant” by Edinburgh-based newspaper The Scotsman.
In his new show, Pie is said to be angrier than ever.
Pie attempts to host a night of serious discussion on current affairs while simultaneously attempting to smash the system from within.
A spokesman for the tour said: “Join him for a night of political comedy that soon descends into chaos. It’s political satire at its finest.”
The tour takes in dates at venues in cities including Nottingham, Oxford, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham and London.
