Flynt prepare for debut Carlisle gig
WEST Cumbrian outfit Flynt have already gained widespread success across the country with airplay on Radio 1 and their first live local gig this weekend.
Thanks to word of mouth and a helping hand from Cumbria's BBC Introducing programme, Flynt made their Radio 1 debut at the beginning of last month, when presenter Huw Stephens played their track Julia on his immensely popular late night show.
Sporting a fresh pop sound, Flynt consists of frontwoman Emma Dockeray, vocalist and guitarist Brad Kavanagh, bassist Calvin Thornborrow and drummer Steven Norman. The four-piece have been playing together for around three years already, but since they announced their latest project at the turn of the year, the reaction has taken them by surprise.
The group will make their live Carlisle debut at The Crescent Bar in Carlisle on Sunday June 25.
Bar manager Charlie Knight is excited to see the group make such an impact on the local music scene.
"I was very excited to have been asked by Brad to host Flynt's first Carlisle appearance. Brad has been a very popular act at The Crescent Bar and over the last two years we have become friends.
"He was sure his first appearance should be in the courtyard as it would be perfect and I was more than happy to accommodate".
Guitarist Brad is no stranger to The Crescent Bar having become a popular acoustic name to appear over weekends at the venue.
However, this Sunday will see Brad take on a new performance format.
"We're chuffed to be bringing out the peach jackets for what will be our city-debut as FLYNT. As well as our Radio 1-features track, "Julia", we will also be playing some other new tunes that are as of yet, unheard. With those and some choice covers, we're looking forward to making noise at Crescent Bar, a venue our singer and guitarist, Brad, is already familiar with. Plus it's free entry so git amang!"
Entry is free and the gig will start from 3pm
