Epic Broadway show Titanic has Cumbrian premiere next month

THE Cumbrian premiere of epic Broadway musical Titanic will hit the stage at the Sands Centre next month.

StagedRight Youth Theatre has pulled together a massive multi-level stage set, a cast of 85, state-of-the-art effects, a 17-piece orchestra and stunning period costumes for what will be their most ambitious show to date.

David McNeill, principal of StagedRight, says: "This is a unique show full of brilliant music, comedy and strong emotion.

"We hope that Cumbrian audiences will support us and come to see something new.

"The ‘Ship of Dreams’ turned out to be a nightmare for everyone on board and we will tell the true story about real people."

In the final hour of April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic, on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, collided with an iceberg and ‘the unsinkable ship’ slowly sank. It was one of the most tragic disasters of the 20th Century, where 1,517 men, women and children lost their lives.

Based on actual characters aboard the greatest ship in the world, Maury Yeston and Peter Stone’s stunning Broadway musical focuses on their hopes and aspirations.

StagedRight Youth Theatre have developed a reputation for presenting large-scale musicals at the Carlisle venue, and Titanic comes after their enormous successes with Oliver, Hairspray, Les Miserables and Singin' in the Rain.

The show runs at 7pm on Friday July 7, with showings at 2pm and 7pm on Saturday 8. Tickets are available in advance from the Sands Centre box office.
