Departing Carlisle United midfielder Gary Dicker revealed there was some uncertainty surrounding his eventual deadline-day move to Kilmarnock.

The 29-year-old completed his move to Rugby Park on Monday after he left United by mutual consent the same day.

The move ended week-long negotiations between the two parties over Dicker’s move, which United boss Keith Curle said “might be dead” following the resignation of Killie boss Gary Locke on Saturday.

But the move was revived, meaning the Irishman could sign an 18-month deal with the Scottish Premiership strugglers.

And the former Brighton man suggested there were a few hitches before the move could be completed.

“The deal was in the pipeline last week and then different stuff happened so I didn’t know where I was at,” he told the Daily Record.

“But I spoke to my agent and he told me it was still on then it finally got done today.

“It was a bit of a rush but I’m just glad to get it done.”

Meanwhile, Carlisle United’s official supporters’ club have urged the 17,000 fans who packed Brunton Park on Sunday to come back and roar the club on to promotion.

The 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Everton was watched by the biggest home crowd since 1989.

CUOSC’s Nigel Davidson said: “It gives us memories of how it used to be for this club and how it could be again in the future if we were to secure promotion. It’s a combined effort of club, team and supporters and if we can retain some of the fans who have chosen to stay away in recent seasons for our upcoming home games then promotion is a real possibility.”

He added: “We want to take all those supporters with us on that journey and it continues this Saturday at home to Accrington Stanley. Three points at home on Saturday, with our games in hand, could put us back on the play-off chase.

“Teams would not relish coming to Brunton Park to play what is turning into a very good team, coupled with a noisy atmosphere of eight, 10, or even 12,000 people - it could very well give us that edge if we can all commit to coming down and supporting the team.”
