Carlisle United have been drawn at home against League One side Port Vale in the League Cup first round.
The clash with the Valiants will be Brunton Park's first fixture of the new 2016/17 season.
The Blues were the first team out of the hat in the northern section of this afternoon's seeded draw.
They were paired with Vale, who this week appointed Bruno Ribeiro as their new manager.
It will be the Staffordshire outfit's first visit to Carlisle since September 2013, when a late Tom Pope goal earned Vale a 1-0 win which spelled the end for Blues manager Greg Abbott.
United also faced Vale last season in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, losing 1-0 at Vale Park.
The game in the newly-named EFL Cup will be played in the first week of the new season with the likely date of Tuesday, August 9.
That will come three days after Carlisle start their league campaign with a trip to Portsmouth.
