Blyth Town 2 Carlisle City 3 (AET): A fine double from substitute Tom Lucock earned City an extra-time win in this Challenge Cup quarter-final tie.
City were ahead within 20 seconds after Longcake’s cross was bundled in by Andy Rogerson.
Blyth gradually fought back into the game and equalised after 36 minutes when Beresford capitalised on Greenall’s error to walk the ball into the net.
City looked to have clinched the game in the 89th minute when Lucock swept home Kilgour’s cross but Richardson sent the game into extra-time.
City’s Heath was sent-off for dissent but the 10 men valiantly fought on, and Lucock hit a superb winner in the 22nd minute of extra-time.
Northbank Carlisle 3 New Fordley 0: Northbank moved up to third place in Division 2 although they were possibly flattered by the margin of this victory.
The home side started brightly and the Fordley keeper saved well from both Routledge and Wilson.
Northbank had to wait until the 40th minute to take the lead when Neil Thorley scored from the penalty spot after Mark Worrall had been fouled.
After the break Twentyman made two outstanding saves to keep his side ahead. Northbank weathered the storm and Worrall volleyed the second after 85 minutes, and substitute Simon Robinson made the game safe.
