Lunt brothers boost Town for Raiders trip

Dave Rotheram hopes to field the strongest side at his disposal since he joined Workington Town in the close-season for today’s Cumbrian derby at Barrow (3pm).
The Raiders are the only side to deny Town at least a bonus point in NL2 this term, beating them 26-10 at Derwent Park in their league opener. So the Town boss is looking for payback at Craven Park.
“Not many teams are going to win at Barrow, but we owe them one,” Rotheram said. “I haven’t been able to get our strongest team on the field all year, and Martyn Wilson is still out. But this one won’t be far off.”
He is hoping Shaun Lunt and brother Rob will shrug off back injuries in time to feature.
“Barrow have good form behind them, having kicked on from last year, and they have set the early pace,” Rotheram added.
“They beat Widnes and ran Batley close in the Northern Rail Cup. They also performed well at Gateshead at the weekend, and will be looking to keep that form going.
“In Adam Hughes, Pat Weisner and Andy Ellis, they have three who have played at a higher level.”
A Barrow win would see them go joint top of NL2, and a step closer to their goal of promotion.
“No fear, it’s what the club wants,” said Raiders coach Dave Clark. “(Chief executive) Des Johnston has brought in some quality players to do that, and the players know their goals.”
