Biggest fish at Low House

Armathwaite's Mike Noble landed the biggest fish from the Low House water and the second biggest Eden salmon reported so far this season.
Mike hooked the salmon – estimated at 25lb – on a Cascade tube fly fished in Nichol Hole during an evening session on Sunday.
Downstream on the Yorkshire Fly Fishers water at Wetheral Keith Triffit of York landed a 20- pounder from the Sticks on a Cascade fly.
Other fish from the YFF water this week included three salmon all around 12lb, one to Chris Brown at the Otter Stone, one to guest Paul Anderson and one to YFF Fishery Manager Mike Grimes, all thrtee fish falling to surface fished Sun Ray Shadow fly's before Monday's rise in water levels.
Steven Beckett of Carlisle landed his second Eden Springer of the season last Tuesday.
The eight-pounder accepted an orange fly fished on the Rickerby Park stretch of the Carlisle Angling Association water. Dave Ravenhill from Berkshire landed a 12 lb springer from the Eden downstream of Carlisle on Saturday.
Dave was using an Autumn Boyo fly and was fishing with AAPGAI instructor Glyn Freeman.
Lazonby Estates Top and Bottom beats have produced 4 salmon this season with George Nobblet landing 3; George has so far landed a 9½ pounder at Red Rock, a 10-pounder in Smithy Wath and a 12-pounder in the Tail of Smithy Wath.
Trout fishing has also been good on the Lazonby Estate beats of the Eden and one angler landed 15 brown trout between ¾lb and 2lb during a recent session.
New Mills Trout Farm in Brampton continues to fish well, the best catches recorded by Michael Beattie who on two visits caught nine rainbows the best 4.5lb and one brownie of 3lb on a floating line and gold head Damsel/Montana.
Ray White landed four rainbows to 5lb and a brown trout of 6lb all caught on a floating line using a Montana Gold Head. Alan Meyer of Carlisle caught a 5lb brownie plus three rainbows to 4lb on a gold head hare's ear and intermediate line,.
Bob Todd had two brownies to 6lb and four rainbows on a damsel fly and Trevor Davidson of Gateshead had a brown trout of 6lb and two 2½lb rainbows. Jonathan Lloyd from Gilsland fished Hadrian Fisheries at Haydon Bridge for the first time recently and using a Black Fennel Viva fly landed two 8lb rainbow trout.
Harrington SAC fished a match at Port Carlisle on Sunday, 11 anglers fished from 4pm to 8pm catching a total of 38 flounders. First was Alan Hill from Little Clifton with a 10 fish bag weighing 7lb 2½ oz. Second was Darren Pape from Flimby with seven fish for 5lb 8oz.
Third was Brian Holiday from Parton with six fish for 5lb½ oz, Brian also had the heaviest flounder weighing 1lb 6oz.
Top junior was Scott Holiday from Flimby with one flounder weighing 1lb 1oz. Harrington SAC are holding a club meeting in Harrington British Legion Club on Tuesday May 6 at 7.30pm anyone interested in joining the club are welcome to attend.
Tarnside SAC fished a match at Braystones beach in rough conditions on Saturday.
Alan Rigg of Calder Bridge won the match with a 1lb flounder. Steve Lancaster was second with an 8oz flounder and Aka Rowlinson was third with a single rockling.
Eighteen competitors fished Tuesday night's 'King of Whins' summer league match at Whins pond near Penrith.
Ian Corri fished peg 12 with a short pole and three maggots on a size 16 hook to take a large bream and a tench for his first win with 10lb 11oz.
Tom Myerscough from Stainton drew peg one and using a fishy pop-up boilie he too found one of the lakes larger bream at 7lb 11oz for second place.
Carp specialist Phil Ramsden fishing the margins at peg 21 with spicy shrimp and prawn boilies managed to land one common carp weighing 6lb 9oz. Fourth was Mick Smith with a 5lb 6oz bream, Dave Wardman was fifth with another bream of 4lb 10oz and Tony Whear was sixth with numerous small roach for 4lb 7oz. On Sunday the second Whins Pond float only summer match series takes place, the draw is at 8am prompt.
Martin Chandler won the Carlisle and District Coarse Angling Club's match at Crofton Lake on Sunday with 8lb 8oz of bream. Jeff Johnson was second with a 1lb 8oz carp and Shaun Corless was third with a 10oz skimmer bream. The first of two practise matches for the CADCAC Friday night league takes place at Crofton on Friday, 6pm draw. The league starts on Friday May 16.
