Ex-Reds Kiwi now in Finland

FORMER Workington Reds midfielder Adsrian Webster could be on the move again.

The New Zealand international, who left the Borough Parek club in September to join Blue Square North rivals Blyth Spartans, is now in Finland.

Globe-trotting Webster, who went on trial to a team in Bratislava before signing for the Reds, is now trying to earn himself a contract with a Finnish club.

Webster’s departure comes at a bad time for the north-east strugglers as Webster’s fellow mid-fielder Chris McCabe picked up a suspected fractured foot in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Tamworth.

Ironically Webster played in that game before jetting off to Finland – and his last appearance in a Workington shirt was also at Tamworth on September 22.

Webster appeared in just three games for the Reds – starting against Kettering and creating the equaliser in the 1-1 home draw, and figuring from the bench in the 1-0 win over Stalybridge and 2-0 defeat at Tamworth.

Their absence will be a major concern for manager Harry Dunn who said: “Webster and McCabe are both important players for us, and even with them in the side at Tamworth we only had 14 players.

“We are waiting to see the extent of McCabe’s injury but Webster is not on a contract after he signed for us from Workington and is therefore free to go on trial.”

Maintaining Blue Square North status is undoubtedly Blyth’s priority this season but they are currently struggling fourth from bottom, just two points clear of the last relegation place.

Is it a miracle or a crime against nature that a man has given birth to a baby?

Miracle - any new life should be welcomed into the world

Crime against nature - the child will always be labelled a freak
