Fans can boost Reds

DARREN Edmondson is asking his depleted Workington Reds squad to thrive on the atmosphere generated at title-winning Kettering today, when the Poppies will be presented with their championship trophy (3pm).

The Poppies are back at the A-Line Arena for the first time since they won the title at home two weeks ago, and they will be presented with their Blue Square Conference North trophy after the final whistle.

“If they get 3,000-plus in, that can work in our favour,” said the Reds boss. “If we can respond, it will hopefully boost us.

Reds will be without the injured David Hewson, Michael Reed, Tony Nicholson and Dan Gullen, while Craig Johnston (infected toe) and Tony Hopper (back) are rated 50:50. And Edmondson may name himself on the bench.
