I’m ready to face Kettering insists Reds’ rookie keeper

REDS’ rookie keeper Aaran Taylor has signalled that he’s ready to step in to the Kettering cauldron if called on tomorrow.
The 21-year-old made only his third start of the season in Tuesday night’s 1-0 home defeat against Burscough, with regular first-choice Adam Collin on the bench.
And Workington tomorrow travel to the A-Line Arena for what should be an emotional occasion, as the Poppies will be presented with the Blue Square North championship trophy on the final whistle, in front of a big, four figure crowd.
“It would be a good time to do well, if I can,” said Taylor. “It’s better playing in front of a few thousand than a few hundred, like we do at some places.
“You’ve got to believe in yourself and your team-mates, and think you’re good enough to get something off Kettering.
“We’ve done it already, there’s no reason why we can’t do it again.”
Taylor enjoyed the Borough Park experience on Tuesday, though had limited work to do.
“It was a good confidence-booster, to come through it,” added Carlisle-based Taylor. “And it was good to play at that level, much better than playing for the reserves or being on the fringes. It’s what I want to be part of.”
He acknowledges that it will be tough to snatch a regular first-team role from the highly-regarded Collin.
“It’s going to be hard as long as Adam’s there,” he said. “But I just have to keep doing what I’m doing, and show my capabilities with any chance I get.”
Reds drew 1-1 with Kettering at Borough Park in September.
