Healthy living is fun too!

HEALTHY living doesn’t have to be a chore if you have the right support and advice.
That was the theme of a special Wellbeing Day held in west Cumbria this week.
The event, on Wednesday afternoon, was jointly organised by Cumbria Primary Care Trust and South Whitehaven Neighbourhood Management.
It took place at St Peter’s Church Hall in Kells and aimed to raise the profile of health and wellbeing issues.
Qualified staff were on hand to provide advice and support and give demonstrations, including salsa dancing and first aid.
Local chef John Crouch was also on hand to demonstrate healthy cooking ideas and there was also a chance to taste his famous low-fat dishes.
Claire Unwin, health improvement support practitioner, said: “We wanted to provide a great opportunity for people to find out ways to improve their own wellbeing, by taking advantage of the support available on their own doorstep.”
Local support groups including the Stop Smoking Service, Drug and Alcohol Services, Fire and Rescue and Job Centre were also there, while free healthy refreshments were provided to those dropping in through the doors.
