FORGOTTEN man Neale McDermott looks to be on his way out of Carlisle United after joining League One rivals Hartlepool on trial.
The midfielder, who has made just one sub appearance for United this season, played for Pools' reserves in their 1-1 draw at York last night and is bidding to win a permanent deal with Danny Wilson's side.
The son of former England and Liverpool star Terry, he is contracted until the end of the season at Brunton Park. The 22-year-old ex-Fulham man has managed just 18 appearances in his two seasons with the Blues after being signed by ex-boss Neil McDonald.
United's second string, meanwhile, beat Rochdale 1-0 last night courtesy of a Danny Carlton strike.
Scott Dobie played the first 45 minutes ahead of his expected first-team return on Saturday and frequently tortured the visitors' defence with his pace.
An experienced Blues line-up also included Zigor Aranalde, Jeff Smith, Paul Arnison, Chris Howarth and Luke Joyce.
Carlton pounced on a mix-up between Dale 'keeper Lloyd Rigby and defender Raphael Evans to slot home the winner in the 54th minute, but United squandered a series of chances to make their win more comfortable.
“We must have had about 15 clear-cut chances,” said coach Eric Kinder. “Danny will be disappointed with the number he missed, but he still picked his goal up.
“We deserved to win without a doubt, but it could have been double figures.”
United: Howarth, Arnison, Campion, Wordsworth, Aranalde, J Smith, Vipond, Joyce, Carlton, Madine, Dobie (Tinnion 46). Subs: Carson, Aldred, Duffy, Blake.
