Rachel Nicholson, 26, assistant hotel manager, and Adam Nowak, 29, a sous chef, live in Cockermouth
HOW THEY MET: At work at the Kirkstile Inn in Loweswater in 2003.
PROPOSAL: Adam proposed on Rachel’s 25th birthday on May 8, 2007.
VENUE: St Bartholomew’s Church, Loweswater on May 23.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A Maggie Sotterro white strapless gown from I Do in Cockermouth.
GROOMSMEN: Sean Peck was best man. Michael McCarron and Mark Fitzpatrick were ushers. The groom’s son Nathan Nowak and the groom’s nephew Ellis Bacon were page boys. They wore Prince Edward suits from Well Suited, Cockermouth.
BRIDESMAIDS: The groom’s sister Lara Nowak was chief bridesmaid. The bride’s cousin Barbara Stagg and friend Claire Spedding were bridesmaids. They wore deep red dresses from I Do.
FLOWERS: The bride carried a teardrop bouquet of rich red roses, white freesias, berries and eucalyptus, while the bridesmaids had smaller versions – from Floral Design, Workington. The church flowers were arranged by family friends Pearl Wilson and Maude Vickers.
TRANSPORT: A Jaguar and a Mercedes from A Touch of Class, Workington.
RECEPTION: A five-course meal for 80 guests at Hundith Hill, Lorton followed by an evening buffet for an extra 40.
FAVOURS: Vodka miniatures in memory of Adam’s Polish grandfather. Chocolates for the children.
CAKE: A three-tier cake made by Mandy Mattocks, Dearham.
FIRST DANCE: Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden.
ENTERTAINMENT AND VIDEOGRAPHER: Motive 8.
HONEYMOON: Bavaro, Dominican Republic.
