Mum pulls 'bullied' daughter out of Carlisle's central academy

A Carlisle mum has withdrawn her daughter from one of the city’s new academy schools because she fears for her safety.

Have your say

Why will Mr Yearsley not face parents and admit there is a problem? No one returns any calls to parents and no-one seems to check the answering machine for messages. It seems the ethos of the school is ignore parents and their concerns and then we do not have to admit there is a problem.
I fear for our children. There are that many un re-solved issues happening why is no one addressing them????

every day my child comes home to tell me that there has been another fight. i have been in a few times and the pupils were so rude and they have no respect for the teachers swearing shouting even at the poor staff at the desk and nothing was done about it no detention or any thing. i feel that i will have to take my child out soon because they are not enjoying school anymore. they are not learning some teachers are so fed up they are leaving.

Please report your experiences about RRCA to Ofsted at enquiries@ofsted.gov.uk , as the more people make a complaint, the more likely we are to improve things.
The bigger the fuss we make, the faster we should see positive results !!!

I have withdrawn my child from the academy for several reasons. My child was badly bullied by older kids, several times there was no teacher to teach the lesson my child was in. My child described many times the disruption in the classrooms and getting no work done, there was no homework set either. I know the staff there do their best, but when I went in to speak to them about the bullying, and a few other things, there were 15 or so kids roaming at will about the school, nobody knew who they were or where they were supposed to be, and they were very rude to the teachers who asked them anything! I also had obscenities shouted at me and bottles thrown at me from the school buses. when I looked up to cross the road one day a school bus went past and there was a forest of middle fingers raised against me. This academy is a nightmare and I am glad my child is out of it.

I am concerned about my son"s education he has told me that he get"s no work done in some of his lessons because of the disruptive student"s in his class and older student"s banging on the window"s and doors! And now they are missing 20 mins of some lessons to make room for dinner !Iam also aware that my son and other students are sitting on a bench in the gym with no tables to eat their dinner .For the first term my son came home for dinner he came straight home and went straight back to school he didn"t wander around the streets or go to the shops .Now this has been stopped .Why allow it for one term and then stop? My son is in year 7 and his first inpressions of secondary are not good.

very long queues and some said sorry that some of the grade were not up to the standards that we expected but what did we expect with all this upheavel. and i don't like the fact that 20mins a day has been taken off my childs education so that they can cater for the school dinners once again the school is far too small.

We don't want to interfere where we may not be wanted. We have however gained a lot of experience, information (and some success) during our last year of campaigning. For example, a good source of free independent professional advice for parents is the Advisory Centre for Education (ACE) www.ace-ed.org.uk There is a direct link to this independent national advice centre from our website www.osanfs.co.uk
