LISA Oglanby, 27, a staff nurse in the special care baby unit at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle, and Darren Steele, 32, a car mechanic, live in Aspatria.
HOW THEY MET: The couple had known each other for a while through friends and met up on a night out on Boxing Day in 2004.
PROPOSAL: Darren took Lisa out for a romantic meal and proposed with a diamond ring in March 2005.
VENUE: St Kentigern’s Church, Aspatria on May 10.
THEME: Mocha brown, cream and love hearts.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A cream, ruche, taffeta Maggie Sottero gown with crystals and lace, a cathedral-length veil with diamantes and a crystal tiara all from I Do, Cockermouth.
GROOMSMEN: Graham Cuthell was best man. Stephen Hardisty and David Elliot were ushers. Sam Trotter, six, and the bride’s nephew, 15-month-old Owen Hardisty were page boys. They wore black tail coats with pinstriped trousers and mocha brown and cream waistcoats from Tom Little, of Maryport.
BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s sister Emma Oglanby was chief bridesmaid. Nicola Millen was a bridesmaid. They wore mocha brown and gold bodices with fish-tail skirts made by Sheila Metcalf, of Aspatria. Flowergirl Beth Cowx, five, wore a cream tulle dress.
FLOWERS: The bride carried a bouquet of pale pink roses and calla lilies while the bridesmaids had hand-tied bouquets of pale pink and cream roses. All from Flowers by Elaine, of Wigton.
TRANSPORT: Open-top Beauford and Daimlers from Highams Wedding Services, Hayton.
RECEPTION: Pimms and canapé reception at Hundith Hill Hotel, Cockermouth, for 80 guests with a further 110 in the evening.
TABLE SETTINGS: Large martini glasses filled with gel crystals hired from Finishing Touches, Workington. Gold candles and cream roses placed on a circular mirror. Gold confetti with the bride and groom’s initials.
FAVOURS: A candle and chocolates in organza bags for the ladies and scratch cards and chocolates for the men – all made by the bride. The bride’s friend Trish Trotter made goodie bags for the children.
CAKE: A cream, three-tier cake decorated in mocha brown ribbons and diamantes made by Lyn Stafford, of Wigton. A diamante cake topper incorporating the couple’s initials was made by Little Miss Tiaras, of Carlisle.
FIRST DANCE: Amazed by Lonestar.
ENTERTAINMENT: Disco by Mel Scott and Tommy Mattinson, of Aspatria.
HONEYMOON: Agios Nikolas in Crete and a Mediterranean cruise
