Exclusive Batman screening in Cumbria

WORKINGTON’S Plaza cinema will premier the new Batman film, The Dark Knight, before any other cinema in Cumbria, on Wednesday, July 23 – two days before the film goes on general release.

Not only that, all ticket holders will be given an amazing piece of movie memorabilia, a lenticular ‘holographic’ poster – one of the most sought after Batman collectibles. The limited edition lenticular poster features The Joker, Batman and Harvey Dent and can be seen at www.empireonline.com

Charlotte Kennedy, marketing manager at the Plaza, said the cinema was chosen by distributor Warner Brothers over bigger multiplex cinemas “because they have the right audience for this type of film”.

The Dark Knight is the most hotly-anticipated movie of 2008, and the final film to star tragic young actor Heath Ledger (as The Joker), who died shortly after filming.

He stars alongside Christian Bale (Batman), Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon), Michael Caine (Alfred), Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox) and Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent/Two Face).

The screening starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 each and are on sale now online at www.workington-plaza.co.uk or by calling 01900 870001.

The Dark Knight will preview at Vue, Carlisle, the Lonsdale, Penrith, and Zeffirellis, Ambleside, the following day before opening in Keswick.
