Scott misses out

UNLUCKY Scott Smith has to miss-out now at Berwick after being hurt in his first meeting since the switch from Workington Comets.
Smith and Paul Fry collided and in the mayhem that followed Scud’s bike shot over the fence and struck two young fans.
The youngsters were taken to hospital. At first it looked as though the riders had escaped relatively lightly but Smith has been struggling since and the problem has been diagnosed as damaged knee ligaments.
The injury is likely to keep him out of action for a while so his come-back season is rapidly turning into a non-event.
Berwick have acted quickly by bringing in 28-year-old Polish rider, Sebastian Truminski who briefly appeared for the Bandits in the latter half of 2007.
He says he has returned with renewed vigour following the sad closure of his 2008 track, Newport as a result of the shock death of their promoter Tim Stone.
Promoter Peter Waite said: “Sebastian enjoyed his all-too-brief spell with us last season and is looking forward to a prolonged session in the black and gold colours this year.
“He’s more accomplished this season and I think our fans will see the improvement.”
Truminski’s debut comes this Saturday night at Shielfield Park in a league match against Scunthorpe Scorpions, the same night as his fellow former Newport Wasp, Tony Atkin debuts for the Bandits.
