WINE drinkers in Cumbria are being urged to take part in what is being billed as a world record wine tasting event.
Wetherspoons pubs in the region are providing a free glass of wine for those taking part in a UK-wide synchronised tasting as part of the company’s 19-day wine festival.
The pubs taking part in the record attempt are The Woodrow Wilson and The William Rufus, in Botchergate, Carlisle, as well as The Bransty Arch in Bransty Row, Whitehaven and The Henry Bessemer, New Oxford Street, Workington. The wine tasting will take place at the pubs at 6pm on Wednesday May 21, with customers offered a free glass of wine (50ml).
The festival runs from Wednesday May 21 until Sunday June 8 and six new wines will be available in addition to the usual range of 16 provided by the pubs.
All of the wines will be sold from £2.10 to £2.50 for a 175ml glass, from £2.85 to £3.35 for a 250ml glass and from £7.39 to £8.39 for a bottle.
